2012 Reflection!

My favourite part of this year was cross country because I was in the senior cross country and I am a middle. I came 6th. I also liked running in athletics. In the 100 meter sprint I came 2nd and in the 200 meter sprint I came 3rd. I didn't like Mrs Paraha leaving. I am looking forward to seeing what class I'm in next year!

Celebrity Word!

Room 8 performed some plays in our reading groups. The Pukekos-that is my group, performed a play called Celebrity Word. Mrs Paraha stared in the play as the judge like me. Taylor-Rose was Cafe. Our play was based on Scrabble. Jaedyn was Paleontology Natalie was Cool it was to see which word would be the Winner!

These are some before and after pictures the first picture is the before picture it was just 1 week old in the secound picture is when we got to be hair dressers and give it a trim or tie it up.

The Milk Tanker and Warran

On Monday there is a milk tanker driver is coming to Vardon school and Rebecca's dad Warran is coming to Vardon school. They are going to teach us about our topic From Milk to Ice cream. Speaking of ice cream ........ Warran is getting a ice cream truck to come and give every one in the whole school even the staff a nice refreshing ice cream. I can't wait it sounds crazy but its not. So be here on Monday!

Ice cream

Room 8 made delicous ice cream because we are learning about Milk to Ice Cream. Our groups ice cream was a little runny but it was nice. Oisin gave us some sprinkles and that made it more yum. We had to shake the milk and the sugar and vanilla essence in a snaplock bag. In the big bag we put ice and rock salt in that bag. Last of all we put the smaller bag in the big bag and shook it. Then we ate it.

Grass Heads

Room 8 made grass heads we each made one. I have a cat called Tyler she is cute we water our   grass heads once a day.  Room 8 put grass seeds in first and then soil we tied a knot at the end of the stocking. We decorated it with googly eyes and bendy fluffy stuff. I like mine I can't wait until the grass starts sprouting!

Animal Court

Today the Pukekos did a play called Animal Court. I was Ms Tortoise and Ms Fleece. Taylor was Mr Stout and Mr Brown. Jeadyn was Mr Fox and the Court registrar. Natalie was Mr Hare and the Judge Hooter. It was fun we performed it in front of the class. They said we did well and we were proud of our group. We were nervous at first but we got through it. I wish we could do it again.

Making butter

On Monday we made butter from cream.  We put the cream in to jars and shook it. When it was lumpy we separated the butter from the butter milk and we rinsed it with water ,then poured it out. Mrs Paraha dished the butter on a plate. We got to have a piece of bread with butter.

Labour Weekend

On Monday (Labour weekend) I went shopping for my Christmas present I got on lay buy an angry bird glass a t-shirt.I got a littlest pet shop talented pet it was cool it meows and sings.When we went to k-mart I got on lay buy a black dress and a nice top.

Term 4

Welcome back to school term 4. This term we are learning about Milk to Ice cream. We will be going on a farm it will be fun. I like cows how about you? I like every dairy product. I hope I can pat a cow when we go on the trip. I want to now why do cows make milk?
The whole school are going to do athletics my goal in athletics is to do better jumps for high jump.
We also will be going to Water World to learn to swim.

Board games

Room 8 got new board games. We got into different groups in my group we had Kaspar,Baki,Cloe and me (Sarah).
We had different games, there was emotions, feelings, what would you do and acting out. We did acting out it was fun.
I learnt how to say things differently using different emotions.

Colour Our World!!!

Yay it's the production. Vardon school had a production called Colour Our World. Rm 8,Rm 14 and Rm 4 were all the Garden group. It was colourful on stage. My favourite things was the acting. Cool Charlie was my favourite actor she was funny. I liked singing and dancing to flower power! The things I didn't like were standing in the cold and I didn't like that my flower head hurt my forehead. The end was so amazing there were party poppers. The coolest part was singing

Production practice

We have been doing production practice for about 4 weeks. We are doing this to have fun and learn what to do in a play. Rm 8, rm 4 and rm 14 are doing  the Garden group. I am in the flower group, it's fun. I'm really looking forward to seeing my mum,  Nana and my brother at our production. I hope were the best. :)

Maths Week

This week is maths week. I'm so happy :) because you can earn $money$ and points on a game. This will help me with my maths.  Already I have $80. You can buy things with your money it's such a cool website. Hope you try it.

Wrap free Wednesday

Today is wrap free Wednesday. I had no wraps at all, it was surprising to see not many wrappers now room 8 isn't going to have lots of wrappers. One thing that was hard for me to find things that would be good to put in my lunch box. We were only allowed  snap lock bags and containers some people bought food in wrappers. I think I did well!:):D

We did this so we save the environment.

Room 8's assembly

We had our assembly. I t was called REACH 4 THE STARS!* I loved the powerful learners,I liked the 3 little pigs sound scape. I think I should work on speaking louder and clearly and slowing down. Thanks 4 listening!*

London Olympics 2012

This year is the Olympics ...but what I really want to know is who made the Olympics? and why do they do the Olympics? 
The first Olympics was in Greece. Baron Pierre de Coubertin started a group to organise the games to be in other countries.


I know that there is lots of sports in the Olympics and they compete for their country. This year I'm really looking forward to the Olympics because I can watch it on t.v.

Term 3

This term I'm so excited to do cross country because I love running in the back yard.
I'm also looking forward to the production because I love acting.


My goal for this term is to be a good Year 4 Leader!

My Yummy Cake!

I have made a cake for the cake stall it looks so yummy. I spent all night doing it. I have a butter cake on the bottem, I have cup cakes on the top with sprinkles and icing. We are doing this for senior camp fundraising. I HOPE I WIN the cake competitoion.

My Mihi

In my mihi I am saying my name and my age, my mum and my dad where I live and my school and thank you at the end.

I really liked sharing this with the class.

Maths

This is my working out to get from 229 to 300. I used a number line to work out the problem. It took a lot of working out to get there but I got there in the end! I now know that it is 71 !!!!!! ;D :)

I was jumping on the number line to the nearest 10, then the nearest 100.

WHAT'S THAT NOISE!

WHAT'S THAT NOISE!
Room 8 walked around with a blindfold on it was scary, I felt nervous. When I was walking I heard a lot of noise but I didn't know what it was. I heard lots or children talking on the field when I took off my blindfold. When I took off my blindfold I was surprised when I saw the people talking. If I were blind I think I would get a headache a lot.

Toast

Room 8  made toast. My favourite part was when I got to eat the yummy toast . Nikita and I had ours after lunch when we got back from  Arbor Day it was yummy. We  made toast because we were writing a procedure of making our OWN breakfast.

Speeches

Room 8 is doing speeches. This week we heard some speeches I also read a speech it was called Tyler and Me! I think my eye contact was good but I think I should practise on a louder voice. I also got in to the speech finals, well only in room8 it was exciting.I hope I get in the middle syndicate finals.

Sound

The middle syndicate is focusing on Sound this is a picture of your ear. The sound wave travels through your ear until the message gets to your brain and that is how you get your message.

Kindness week

WOW I got Mrs Paraha.Room 8 is doing random acts of kindness week. I got Mrs P OUT OF THE HAT. The first day I baked her a cake. She was suprised I felt kinder.
When I looked in my tote tray I got a suprise, I got a piece of cake too. It was a yum cake!

I feel kinder more things for others.

ANZAC Day

ANZAC day is to remember the soldiers that fought and died in the wars. ANZAC day is always on the 25 of April. ANZAC day is important for the people and families that have lost other family members that died in wars.

ANZAC biscuits are called ANZAC biscuits because they were made when the war was happening. The wives used to make them and send them to their husbands at war.

Movie Afternoon - The holidays

In the holidays I went to the movies to see Mirror Mirror. It was funny and cool. My favourite part when Snow White found her father.

Term 1 Reflection

This term my favourite events were going to Waitomo caves and Kapa Haka!! My favourite bit about Waitomo caves was the glow worms and the history there. Kapa Haka was cool when we went to Sky city we preformed in front of a lot of people it was fun. We even got some goody bags mine was blue and had a taniwha. Those two things were my favourite things.

My term 2 gaols are to do better in hand writing and maths. I hope I do better.
I would also LOVE to be a Year 4 Leader and be an enviro-agent.

Crystal Flowers

3 days a go we made some pretty rystal Flowers every one has one, they are cool. My one is pink but... the colour hasn't rised yet but it is growing salt Crystals yay! It smelt like the dentist and the petal's looked like a star fish.
The salt water we put in the container was blue or pink that is how we got our Crystals. :)

Our trip to the Caves

Waitomo Caves

"Wow !!!" When we went to Waitomo Caves my favorite thing was the columns and stalagtites and stalagmites. The glow worms were so lovely! I liked the columns because it was interesting. I learnt that a stalagmite grows from the ground and stalagtite grow from the top of the cave.

Swimming

Splash splash, I have lots of goals for swimming. I swam a hole length of free style I took a lot of breaths "hhhh". Then I swam back stroke on the way back. I used to go wobble wobble but now I go straight that was one of my goals, splash splash!!!.

2012

Sarah - This year in my learning journey I'm looking forward the for taboilds day for all the cool activities for getting us warmed up for the new year. I would also like to work on my swimming skills.

Baki - My goal is to achieve more in maths.

Sarah -My goal is to pull realy hard at TUG OF WAR so that we can WIN.
